Greetings from Southwestern Florida!!

First of all, Happy New Year. I didn't realize it had been so long since my last post. My how time flies.

In September I began a PhD program in Depth Psychology with Specialization in Integrative Therapy and Healing Practices with Pacifica Graduate Institute. It is an exciting program. I travel to Southern California, just south of Santa Barbara for three days of classes once a month, except for July and August (in August we have online coursework). Then at the end of December I left my full-time position as a hospice music therapist in Western New York and moved to Southwestern Florida where I have the opportunity to devote to developing my private practice and incorporating the concepts I am learning in my PhD program.

Since today is Inauguration Day, and I know many people who are concerned not just about the future of this country, but about their own freedom, I want to acknowledge those fears and concerns as legitimate and real. Sometimes we need some extra support while going through our own personal life changes or experiencing the stress of larger global changes. (I am having phone sessions with my Jungian analyst a couple of times a month!) Music engagement can be a wonderful stress reliever and sessions with a board-certified music therapist, or other therapist, can assist us in walking through the emotional geography that change typically brings.

Be good to yourself and treat yourself to whatever activities bring joy and kindness into your life.
